Pope Benedict XVI’s Last Writings, Now Avaliable

After Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI resigned from the papacy in 2013, he never stopped thinking or writing. Near the end of his life, he and editor Elio Guerriero gathered together a whole volume of new material, dealing with the themes closest to his heart.
The pope asked that it be published upon his death.

“If we had faith, we would see God hidden in the
Priest like a light behind glass.”
  – St. John Vianney –
Patron Saints Of Priests

“If I saw an angel and a priest, I would bend my knee;
First to the priest and then to the angel.”
  – St. Francis of Assisi

“He who honors a priest, honors Christ;
he who insults
a priest, insults Christ.”
  – St. John Chrysostom

Prayer For Priests
By St. Therese Of Lisieux

O Jesus, eternal priest, keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.
Keep sustained their anointed hands, which daily touch them Your Sacred Body.
Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with your Precious Blood.
Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.
Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s contagion.
Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.
Amen.

The Beautiful Hands Of A Priest

We need them in life’s early morning
we need them again at its close.

We feel their warm clasp of true friendship,
we seek them when tasting life’s woes.

At the altar each day we behold them and the
hands  of a king on his throne are not equal
to them in their greatness; their dignity stands
all alone.

And when we are tempted and wander
to pathways of shame and of sin, it’s the hands
of the priest will absolve us–not once, but again
and again.

And when we are taking life’s
partner, other hands may prepare us a feast,
But the hands that will bless and unite us is the
Beautiful hands of a Priest.

God bless them and keep them all holy for the
Host that their fingers caress; when can a poor sinner
do better than to ask Him to guide thee and bless?

When the hourof death comes upon us may our
courage and strength be increased by seeing
raised over usin blessing the
Beautiful hands of a priest!

Thank you for participating in this Lenten Prayer for Priests!

Unfailing Prayer to St. Joseph (House Selling Prayer)

O St. Joseph, whose protection is
so great, so strong, so prompt
before the Throne of God, I place
in you all my interests and desires.
O St. Joseph, do assist me by your
powerful intercession and obtain
for me from your Divine Son all
spiritual blessings through Jesus
Christ, Our Lord; so that having
engaged here below your Heavenly
power I may offer my thanksgiving
and homage to the most loving of
Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never
weary contemplating you and
Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare
not approach while He reposes
near your heart. Press him in my
name and kiss His fine Head for
me, and ask Him to return the Kiss
when I draw my dying breath. St.
Joseph, Patron of departing souls,
pray for us. Amen.

Pope Francis and the Family Nativity Tradition

The Pope wishes to encourage the beautiful family tradition of preparing the Nativity scene in the days before Christmas, As children, we learn from our parents and grandparents to carry on this joyful tradition… It is my hope that this custom will never be lost and that, wherever it has fallen into disuse, it can be rediscovered and revived… Francis described a creche scene as a simple and admirable sign of the Christian faith.
